Episode 1: Welcome to The Heartful Parent Podcast
Welcome, welcome, welcome!
In this intro to The Heartful Parent Podcast, you hear from me, Christy Keating, about my journey becoming a parent, what that meant for my partnership and professional life, and how all of this brought me to become a parenting coach and supporter of other parents by creating The Heartful Parent Collective.
My journey may be relatable to you as a parent; after becoming a mom and feeling the pressure of dual roles, I decided to make a change. I left my work of 20 years as a prosecutor to create a space for parents to feel supported and help partners learn how to build equity in relationships. Now I am a Certified Parent Coach, Positive Discipline Educator, Certified Gottmann Instructor, Certified Fair Play Facilitator, and I serve on the board of the National Coalition to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation.
My journey is a bit different than some of my amazing colleagues in the parenting space, and I hope you will find both that journey and my perspective helpful to you as you live, learn, and grow as a parent. I’m a lawyer, I’m a mom, and I’m a coach. I want to help you explore how taking care of yourself and your relationships, using positive discipline techniques, and empowering your kids with brain and body safety tips can all be done in a heartful way.
My approach is real (some swear words included!), and I am a parent coach who admits I don't get it right all the time. But I am here to help you bring love, joy, and connection back to your family. I am so happy you are here and have some great guests planned to really make The Heartful Parent Podcast one of your go-to resources for real talk about parenting, partnering, and our professional lives.
